who we are
why we were created
Propel to Excel is a student performance improvement institution, helping young people maximise their potential by developing the confidence, resilience and performance skills for exam readiness.

Propel to Excel is a student performance improvement instituion, helping young people maximise their potential by developing the confidence, resilience and performance skills that drive success.
Â
Schools and tutors play a vital role in developing academic knowledge, teaching the curriculum and ensuring students have the subject expertise needed to succeed. At the same time, pastoral teams and specialist therapists provide essential support for students with identified wellbeing, emotional or clinical needs.
Â
But what about the large number of students who sit somewhere in between?
Â
The students who appear to be coping, yet quietly wrestle with self-doubt, fear of failure, pressure, perfectionism, low confidence or uncertainty about how to perform at their best when it matters most. Many become experts at masking their concerns—holding it together at school before releasing their frustrations at home, or vice versa. Others simply accept these challenges as part of the academic journey and continue to struggle in silence.
Â
These students don't necessarily require additional academic teaching or specialist intervention. They need practical performance skills, strategies and support that help them build confidence, develop resilience, manage pressure and translate their hard work into their best possible performance.
This is the gap Propel to Excel was created to fill.
Â
Propel to Excel addresses the often-overlooked gap between preparation and performance.
Â
Drawing on principles from performance psychology, behavioural science, mindset development, confidence-building and high-performance habits, we help students strengthen the mental and behavioural skills that enable them to perform consistently under pressure.
Â
Our focus is not on teaching more content. Our focus is on helping students get more from the knowledge, ability and preparation they already possess.
Â
For many students, that difference can be the extra 1–3% that separates potential from performance.

Our Mission
To empower students with the mental, emotional, and performance skills needed to achieve academic excellence and navigate life's challenges with confidence. We bridge the gap between knowing content and showing excellence, ensuring every child can propel toward their full potential.
Our Vision
A future where every student enters an exam room or an interview not with anxiety, but with focus and self-belief. We envision a generation of resilient learners who are equipped to excel in high-stakes environments and beyond, supported by confident parents and schools.
Our Values
Potential in Every Child
We teach students to view challenges as opportunities to grow and setbacks as lessons in perseverance.
Success is a Team Effort
We bridge the gap between knowing content and showing excellence through honest, personalized coaching.
Beyond Academics
We strive for high standards in both academic preparation and personal character development.
Progress Over Perfection
We believe success is a team effort involving students, parents, and educators working in harmony.
Why Propel to Excel
While many providers focus on academic attainment or wellbeing support, Propel to Excel focuses on the performance skills that enable students to apply their knowledge effectively under pressure.
Â
We help students strengthen the confidence, resilience, focus, self-belief and habits that influence performance before, during and after exams.
Â
Our approach complements the work already being done by schools, tutors and pastoral teams, helping students maximise the return on the preparation they have already invested.
Â
For many students, this can be the difference between knowing the answer and confidently demonstrating it when it matters most.

Meet bisha chakravorty

about the founder
Hi, I'm Bisha Chakravorty, Founder of Propel to Excel.
Â
I am a mother of three and have spent more than 17 years working in behavioural science, organisational change consulting, helping individuals and organisations navigate complexity and perform at their best. For the past 9+ years, I have also worked as a triple-accredited coach in leadership, life and parent coaching, supporting senior leaders and executives to strengthen performance, mindset and resilience. Alongside this, I have specialised in trauma-informed approaches and child psychology.
Â
Yet, Propel to Excel wasn't born from my professional experience alone.
Â
It was born from my experience as a parent.
Just over two years ago, my eldest son was preparing for his 11+ examinations. On the outside, he appeared to be coping well. He was intelligent, charismatic, determined and full of potential. At school, he was doing what many children do so well—keeping up appearances.
Â
What many people couldn't see was the internal battle he was facing.
He struggled with self-belief, confidence, focus and motivation. The pressure of the 11+ journey weighed heavily on him, despite the excellent academic teaching and pastoral support already in place. He wasn't a child in crisis, nor did he require specialist intervention. He simply needed support to develop the confidence, emotional resilience and performance skills to navigate one of the first major challenges of his young life.
Â
As a parent, I knew what he needed. But like many parents, I discovered that knowing and doing are often two very different things when it comes to our own children.
Â
So, we worked together.
Â
Not on more tutoring or additional academic content, but on building the foundations that underpin performance: emotional resilience, self-belief, mental stamina, healthy boundaries, focus and confidence. It took time, patience and consistency. Slowly, I watched him begin to trust himself and approach challenges differently.
Â
That experience changed everything for me.

Mother of Three
It opened my eyes to the vast number of children who sit in the space between academic support and specialist intervention. Children who quietly carry the weight of expectations, who hide their worries from school, release their emotions at home, or simply suffer in silence while appearing to cope on the surface.
Â
These children are capable.
They are hardworking.
They have enormous potential.
Â
But too often, no one is explicitly teaching them how to perform under pressure.
Â
This is the gap Propel to Excel was created to fill.
Â
Today, my son is thriving at one of the country's leading schools and continues to use many of the tools and strategies we developed together. Like all of us, he still needs the occasional reminder to believe in himself. That journey continues, and perhaps it always will.

Over the past 18 months, I have worked closely with children and families to better understand the relationship between academic preparation, emotional readiness and performance. Through one-to-one coaching, interview preparation, exam readiness programmes and parent support, I have helped more than 20 families navigate some of the most important educational milestones in their children's lives, including entry into highly competitive secondary schools.
Â
As demand for this support has grown, so too has the belief that these skills should not be reserved for a small number of families with access to private support.
Â
Every child deserves the opportunity to develop the confidence, resilience and performance skills needed to maximise their potential.
Â
At Propel to Excel, our values are rooted in a simple belief: performance can be improved. With the right guidance, practical tools and supportive relationships, young people can strengthen their self-belief, navigate pressure more effectively and approach challenges with greater confidence.
Â
We believe that schools, parents and students are not working against one another—they are partners in a child's success. When academic preparation is combined with emotional readiness and practical performance strategies, students are better equipped to turn effort into outcomes and potential into achievement.
Â
Our ambition is to help build a generation of young people who are not only prepared for exams, but prepared to thrive through challenge, trust in their abilities and perform at their best when it matters most.
